🌊 Spring Break Resilience Week & Our First Oyster Roast: A Celebration of Community, Courage, and Connection

This past week marked a milestone for the Tidal Resilience Foundation — our first-ever Spring Break Resilience Week and our first Spring Oyster Roast fundraiser. What unfolded was more than a series of events. It was a living, breathing reminder of why TRF exists: to create spaces where grieving families feel supported, connected, and seen.

From ocean adventures to shared meals, from quiet moments of courage to loud bursts of laughter, this week was filled with memories we’ll carry forward for a long time.

🐬 Spring Break Resilience Week: A Week of Healing in Motion

Over four afternoons at Genung’s Fish Camp, families came together to learn, explore, create, and breathe. Each day centered on a different animal and a different resilience theme — adaptability, courage, connection, and strength.

Highlights from the week included:

  • Kayaking through the Matanzas with families who had never been on the water before

  • Hands-on learning with local marine partners

  • Art projects that helped kids express their stories

  • Shared rituals that brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of belonging

  • A community of caregivers supporting one another in real time

The heart of the week wasn’t the schedule — it was the way families showed up for themselves and each other. The way kids tried something new. The way caregivers exhaled. The way everyone left a little lighter than they arrived.

🦪 The Oyster Roast: A Night of Community & Generosity

On Friday evening, we gathered again — this time with the wider community — for our first Oyster Roast fundraiser. The sunset over the water, the smell of oysters steaming, the sound of live music, and the buzz of conversation created a night that felt both celebratory and deeply meaningful.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised $2,000 to support future TRF programming. Every dollar goes directly toward creating more spaces like this week — spaces where families can heal, connect, and grow.

💙 With Deep Gratitude to Our Partners

None of this would have been possible without the generosity and partnership of so many:

  • 🤝 Genung’s Fish Camp — for opening your space, your hearts, and your hands to Tidal Resilience all week long

  • 🔥 A Frame Sauce

  • 🎨 Stewart Maxcy

  • 💙 Patty Scott

  • 🏄 Aqua East Surf Shop

  • 🐋 Marineland Right Whale Project

  • 🌶️ Cocka-datil-doo Sauce

And to every donor, volunteer, neighbor, and friend who showed up, shared, cooked, carried, cheered, and supported — thank you. Your kindness made this week possible.

To the families who joined us — thank you for trusting us with your stories, your children, and your time. Your courage is the heartbeat of TRF.

🌟 Looking Ahead

This week was just the beginning. TRF is growing, learning, and building — one connection, one family, one moment at a time. We’re already dreaming up what’s next, including the Waves of Hope 5K, future resilience programs, and more community events that bring people together.

Thank you to everyone who made this week possible. Thank you for believing in this mission. And thank you for helping us build a community where resilience is not just taught — it’s lived.

With gratitude, Karen & the Tidal Resilience Foundation
