Born from Loss.
Built for Resilience.
Tidal Resilience Foundation helps grieving children and families find connection, healing, and hope through ocean-centered experiences, resilience-building resources, and the steady support of community.

Why Tidal Resilience Exists
Children grieving the loss of a parent or caregiver need more than sympathy. They need language, connection, practical tools, safe experiences, and caring adults who understand that grief does not follow a straight line.
Tidal Resilience Foundation brings those supports together through Resilience Kits, ocean-based programming, family resources, community events, and partnerships across Northeast Florida.

Our Mission
Tidal Resilience Foundation supports children and families navigating the loss of a parent or caregiver. Through ocean-centered experiences, resilience-building resources, and compassionate community connection, we help young people build coping tools, rediscover moments of joy, and move toward healing with support.
A Founder Who Understands Life After Loss
Tidal Resilience Foundation was born from Karen Danlovich’s lived experience with loss, resilience, education, and service. After losing her mother as a child and her father as a young adult, Karen learned early how grief can shape a young person’s life and how much it matters to have support, purpose, and steady connection along the way.
Her path as an educator, coach, school leader, and community builder gave her a deep commitment to helping young people feel seen, capable, and supported. Tidal Resilience grew from that commitment: a vision to transform personal loss into a legacy of hope for children and families navigating grief.
“Resilience is not just surviving — it’s rising.”

Today, Karen leads Tidal Resilience with a belief that no child should have to carry grief alone. Through ocean-centered experiences, practical resources, and the care of community, the foundation helps young people discover strength, connection, and possibility after loss.

The Tide We Face
Every year, millions of children in the U.S. experience the death of a parent or sibling. By age 18, 1 in 11 will be bereaved. These young people are twice as likely to face challenges at home, more vulnerable to mental health struggles, and at greater risk for substance use and even suicide.
The cost of inaction is profound: grief left unsupported can disrupt development, erode resilience, and shorten lives. But with caring communities, positive role models, healthy coping skills, peer support, and encouraging educators, bereaved children can thrive.
